The origin of the word competition, derives from the Latin root "competere," which means "to strive together."
I created this sculpture to represent friendship and friendly competition between my friend Jasmin and myself. We took on t trendy challenges like daily gratitude journals and goals of working towards a 5k runs.
It is titled "I Let You Win" as a nod at the laughter that follows one person losing a competition but the meaningless nature of loss in a friendly battle. As time passes, I grow fonder of this sculpture, cast in solid bronze weighing 18 lbs, reminiscing what it means to strive together to pursue shared goal.
